Color Usage Guide

Primary Color

Used for: Main buttons ("Save", "Send Invoice"), nav highlights, links, progress bars

Accent Color

Used for: Secondary buttons ("Cancel", "Edit"), badges, icons, hover states

Color Accessibility

Sergio automatically checks color contrast for accessibility (WCAG AA compliance):

  • ✅ Green checkmark = Passes accessibility standards
  • ⚠️ Yellow warning = Marginal contrast (consider adjusting)
  • ❌ Red error = Fails standards (won't save until fixed)

Dark Mode Support

How Dark Mode Works

Every Sergio user can toggle dark mode independently:

  1. Click theme toggle in navbar (sun/moon icon)
  2. Interface switches to dark theme immediately
  3. Preference saved to user account (persists across devices)
  4. Your brand colors automatically adapt for dark backgrounds

Logo for Dark Mode

If your logo has dark elements that disappear on dark backgrounds:

  1. Go to SettingsCompany Profile
  2. Upload Dark Mode Logo (separate from regular logo)
  3. This version appears only in dark mode
  4. Example: White text logo for dark backgrounds

Advanced Customization (Business Plan)

Custom CSS

For complete design control:

  1. Go to SettingsAppearanceCustom CSS
  2. Write CSS rules to override default styles
  3. Example:
    /* Rounded buttons */
    .btn {
      border-radius: 12px;
    }

    /* Custom font */
    body {
      font-family: 'Your Font', sans-serif;
    }
  4. Preview changes in real-time
  5. Click Save Custom CSS

Custom Email Templates

Customize all automated emails:

  1. Go to SettingsEmail Templates
  2. Choose template to edit (quote sent, invoice reminder, etc.)
  3. Customize:
    • Subject line
    • Email body (supports HTML)
    • Header/footer colors
    • Button text and links
  4. Use variables like {{customer_name}}, {{invoice_total}}
  5. Send test email to yourself
  6. Click Save Template

Best Practices

Logo Tips

  • Keep it simple - Complex logos don't scale well to mobile
  • High contrast - Ensure logo is visible on both light and dark backgrounds
  • SVG format - Scales perfectly at any size
  • Test on mobile - View customer portal on phone to verify readability

Color Selection

  • Match your website - Use same colors as your main site
  • Avoid pure black (#000000) - Use dark gray for better readability
  • Test with colorblind simulator - Ensure accessibility
  • 60-30-10 rule - 60% primary, 30% accent, 10% highlights

Brand Consistency

Your branding should be consistent across:

  • Sergio dashboard
  • Customer portal
  • Email notifications
  • Invoice/quote PDFs
  • Your website
  • Business cards/vehicle wraps

Professional, cohesive branding builds trust and recognition.
